Goddess Games The time container for this game is one year. Play this along with your normal routines. Dedicate yourself to your goal, and have grace with yourself when you slip. Above all else, keep going until you've mastered the game.
To quit Smoking play this game. Each time you feel the urge to have a cigarette challenge yourself to wait 30 minutes. Then if you still want one, have one.
If you, while waiting, forget about the cigarette, and are only reminded when the urge hits you again, challenge yourself to wait 30 minutes.
In this game, we are learning to recognize and make friends with our personal feeling called "urge." Learn its name, learn where it lives in our bodies, how does it feel? What triggers it? Why does it prompt us so strongly?
We are practicing working with our emotions. Becoming stronger and more confident each time we show ourselves that we have control of how we respond too, not just our urge. Little by little, lovingly healing ourselves with grace.
And of course, we are cutting down our numbers slowly but diligently by practicing a simple delay.
When I played this game, sometimes I would wait the 30 minutes and smoke ASAP. Sometimes I would loose track of the 30 minutes and only remember later when the urge was triggered and Id have to wait 30 minutes again. Sometimes Id be so proud of myself that even when I did keep track of the time and my 30 minutes was up, Id go another 30 just to feel like a bad ass.
Some days I slipped, and some days I was a bad ass. But overall, I kept going little by little until a year had passed and I was down to 1 smoke with breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner. A little after that, I just let them go. I was ready and it was easy.
Nothing here is meant to be perfect so PLAY with this. Enjoy the process in ways that work for your life and remember this game has a very big container. One year is the goal but two years is just as fine. Just keep going.
